Lego Large Hadron Collider
The focus of this project is derived from the inspiration gained from discovering the "Build Your Own Particle Detector" project. It is an outreach program started by Sascha Mehlhase, a senior postdoc and junior research team leader at the Ludwig -Maximilians-Universität München (LMU).
More information regarding the outreach program can be found here.
In particular, we are interested in building the LHC Micro Model for the purpose of displaying, along with several useful infographics, in the hallway of the Physics & Astronomy Department in Franklin & Marshall College. We believe that a continually-growing interest in particle physics, heralded by recent discoveries such as the famed Higgs boson, are reasons why students and the public should be informed about some of the technical aspects of particle detectors.
